July 17th Farmington Creek Trail

Spring to Fitness 4th Activity

It has been a whole month since our last get together and hike...since then Brent and I have been busy with a son (Kyle) getting married and a son (Ryan) leaving on his mission. It has been days of planning, excitment, concern, all the emotions such events bring ect.....Monday July 12, I received a phone call from Linda Rasmussen our wonderful, did you hear those words WONDERFUL....PRIMARY PRESIDENT!! A while back I had assigned each oranization a date and hike area. She ws calling me to remind me that our July 17, hike was coming up. I had not done any promoting, advertising of any kind as I was busy with son stuff. To my surprise Linda had it all planned with the help of all the primary children. THANK YOU!!!

It was rather warm today but we enjoyed a fun hike and mini version of Church History learning about destinations, hardships, trials, events that our early pioneers endured on their route to the great Salt Lake Valley. We had a great turn out...the biggest yet 36 total attended is was I believe I counted. This was a wonderful way to enjoy a well know hiking trail behind Lagoon...Thank you again Primary!!!

I think any pioneer would hurry to each destinaton it they knew chocolate milk, strawberry jam and fresh bread was being served...

(Ward Waddlers) June 5th 2nd Hike

I would like to start out with a big THANK YOU to Brother McOmber and Brother Munoz for heading up our 2nd hike on Haight Creek Trail...

The weather was perfect we had about twenty attend this early 7:00 am walk. I was a bit late as I have three grandcritters to wrestle with (I am enjoying every minute of it) I did manage to get to the hike destination at 7:30 to take some morning beauty shots!!!

GOOD MORNING....

Ty was in a pretty good mood...he just does not like his sister's holding him!!!
Leave it to Trevor he's always ready for the camera... Notice in the background Wendy and Maria Simmons jogging...way to go ladies, forgive me for the behind the scene's shot.
Nick Simmons...he was not interested in posing, I don't blame him, this is what I do when a camera is around!!!
I think I might know these two...
Two of my favorite people at 7:30 in the morning they were not camera shy...
The lead...
The end...

These two look alike!!!

If you missed this hike it is worth exploring this area...nice layed out paved trail...
Mother's with babies, strollers work well on this trail, very peaceful!!!

Description:

This is a beautiful urban nature walk paralleling Haight Creek. There are plenty of cattails and willows to hid the wildlife. Deer, foxes, raccoons, and pheasants can be seen in this delightful wetland.

Trailhead Location(s):

Go west on Shepard Lane (~1200 N.) and over the I-15 overpass to 350 E. (a Kaysville address). Turn south (left) and go two blocks to a stop sign near a reed pond. Park along the road. The trail is south of the pond paralleling Haight Creek. The Farmington address here is 950 N. 2000 W.

Trail Route:

The path descends a small hill then parallels Haight Creek which is only a trickle here. Stroll along the path flanked by reeds to an intersection with a bench. You can take the left branch which bends south through the neighborhood or go westward to 2125 W. (Fox Hunter Drive). Eventually, the trail will continue west to join up with the Great Salt Lake Shoreline Trail.

Constuction Status:

The trail is in good shape on a packed gravel pathway.

Our Kick Off 1st Hike

Despite the rain all night and the snow on the mountains this morning our hike went as planned!!!

Our starting point was from the Elliott's home...as you can see we had a pretty good turn out. Jeff Hymas and his daughters joined us shortly after I took this picture. Note to my self: charge camera battery before next hike!!! We ran into brother Stoddard along the path. Scott Karen, Christain Munoz, and John Bigler also joined us. It was fun...many thanks to everyone, we are just getting started so stay tune for our next exciting hike...
This is a pretty HAPPY group!!!
Time for that SNACK before our walk back!!!

Some of us enjoyed the hike from a HIGHER point of view!!!

GOOD MORNING Sister Odekirk!!!

Some of us had an endless supply of ENERGY...or was it the GRANOLA BAR!!!

I think Brooke is wondering...hummmm when is the NEXT HIKE???

Ward Hawaiian Cruise

Our Hawaiian Paradise Cruise was held on March 6, as you can all see, we had a FABULOUS time. There was yummy food, GREAT entertainment, SUPER support from all who help and attended. We hope everyone had a GREAT time. We all know that most of us would not past up a real Cruise but if you ask me...this was pretty close to an AWESOME Cruise Farmington Style!!!

One would not believe the time/work it took to get this monkey to sit just right in his giant shell...holding all our lei's...

Brother Munoz's knows how to mix up some GREAT smoothies.....well we had a team working on them, thanks again to our activities committee.

Thank goodness we have dollar stores, I found most of the decorations there. Kathy Rodda had some beautiful large shells that we use to decorate our buffet table. Sharon Fredricko loaned us a large tropical looking plant for the center of our buffet table. To get our large gym to look somewhat like the inside of a cruise boat John Anderson printed up huge port holes...they were my favorite! Do you know how many Port Holes we had on our ship???

Our YUMMY dessert was made by Amy Kirkham...many of you don't know this but prior to our party at one of our meetings we had a food sampling night. We aim to please, we wanted it to be GREAT!!!

I still laugh when I see these pictures...this was some creative talent!!! PRETTY DARN CUTE...

Entertainment was great...I believe our Bishopric with the direction of course of Scott Karren should consider a career in music...What do you think?

Special Guest Talent....Thank you Brother and Sister Steele...One afternoon Linda Rasmussen showed up at my home with a box of decorations and a bag of boats...her words were surly you might find a use for these. She was RIGHT...I loved the cruise boats on our punch table...
Kathy Rodda is pretty IMPRESSIVE with a knife...just look at these yummy pineapples...

We could not have pulled this Activity off without the help of a wonderful, yes wonderful ACTIVITIES COMITTEE and a supporting WARD.
